Description
1891 Blair KAMARET Roll Film & 4x5 Plate & Cut Film Camera, with Holder & Lens Plug. At the time of its manufacture, "this large box camera was advertised as being 'one-third smaller than any other camera of equal capacity' because it was the first American box camera to move the film spools to the front of the camera." It was made to take 100 exposures on roll film, and included "double exposure prevention, automatic film counter, and an attachment for using plates or cut film." It measures approximately 9" x 5-1/2" x 6-1/2". It's a hard camera to find. The leather is fairly dried out and sometime in its 140 year existence someone has etched the top (under the handle). The two parts of the camera fit together, but I don't know how to latch them to stay together. This has been in my late husband's, Alan B. Cotter, 50+ year camera collection, so please ask questions before bidding (no returns.)
