What's the difference between 850nm and 940nm infrared LED illuminators?
940nm infrared LEDs are virtually invisible to the naked eye. These LEDs produce no light that the naked human eye can see. The light from these LEDs can, however, be picked up by most infrared cameras. An 850nm LED
produces a visible red glow but
will illuminate stronger than a 940nm LED of equal power. This is how a compatible illuminator with 850nm LEDs will illuminate much better than a 940nm. However if there is a need to be discreet, 940nm is the better choice due to its invisibility. This bulb is also suitable where there is a need to illuminate a specific area, since it will work in most light fixtures disguising and aiming it is easy.
This bulb or any other IR source 940 or 850nm will not make a non-night vision camera, (as well as a smart phone camera) night vision capable. Day time cameras do not “see” infrared light.
It is meant to replace your IR night vision camera’s glow in the dark LEDs with no-glow invisible IR.
