The topline is lightly padded for comfort, and the 4LR footbed supports and cushions.The big differences for the Heritage IV zip paddock boots are the updated style and the advanced tread and heel.
Style-wise, the Heritage IV has a sleeker, more modern look with the plain toe instead of the punched toe cap. The zipper now has a leather placket that conceals the zipper a bit and helps protect your half chaps from rubbing against the metal. The leather panels are redesigned with a curvier, more pleasing look and the side elastic gores are widened for greater stretch. The Ariat stamped logo is moved down to the heel area.
Comfort-wise, Ariat redesigned the Duratread outsole with traction zones and added traction to the heel. These traction zones were tested by riders and shown to increase wear resistance. The most noticeable advance is the innovative heel design. The back of the heel curves upward slightly to allow a gentler, more ergonomic heel strike and walking.
