  • Condition: ONE-OF-A-KIND 122-year-old Antique Custom Adlake (Adams & Westlake) Regular c. 1898, Manual plate changing camera, completely refinished with a new Pommele Eucalyptus veneer covering (Due to natural imperfections in the veneer, there a several small cracks in the wood on the bottom of the camera). Although it looks like a magazine camera, it holds 12 steel plateholders inside the top door compartment behind the focal plane. These plateholders are manually inserted into a slot behind the focal plane and the top door is closed. The lever on the side of the camera under the handle opens the front of the plateholder for exposure. Made in 3 ¼ʺ x 4 ¼ʺ and 4ʺ x 5ʺ sizes, this camera uses the larger 4ʺ x 5ʺ size plates (8 plates included, consecutively numbered). Viewfinders are clear, shutter is operational, but the shutter blades might occasionally stick. Customized with a Pommele Eucalyptus veneer covering and polished hardware, this camera is a one-of-a-kind creation, perfect for display..
