    British Army WW2 227th Independent Infantry Brigade Formation sign
    Very nice example of this interesting formation Sign. No mothing, color of embroidered anchor is a nice crisp red. It shows no signs of having been sewn on a uniform. Typical black cotton backing seen in this period. An excellent badge for a WW2 or Scottish collection.

    (the suffix '(Home)' was dropped on 1 December 1941). The brigade was always composed of Scottish regiments.

    During July 1943 three of the brigade's

    erritorial Army and hostilities-only battalions were replaced by two reconstituted Regular battalions of Highland regiments serving in Orkney, the brigade was re-designated
    227th (Highland) Infantry Brigade
    and assigned to 15th (Scottish) Infantry Division.
