Civil War US Army enlisted coat & cuff/kepi buttons - RMDC Scovill, Scovills &Co

For sale is a pair of non-dug, two-piece, Civil War US Army general service (enlisted ranks) eagle buttons.  These are the classic buttons of the northern Civil War soldier; Tice writes that the "preponderance of Union Army buttons found in Civil War camps and battlefields are of this type."
The 'sack coat' (20 mm) size button, with the raised mark, depressed channel (rmdc) ". SCOVILL MFG CO . / WATERBURY" backmark, is specifically listed by Albert as GI94A3 and by Tice as GEN215A30.  Tice also pictures this button on page 143 (Plate D-14, Image 9) and this backmark on page 35 (Plate B-8, Image 3) where he dates it to the 1850s.
This coat-size example is in good condition with a bent shank and resulting push on the rear and small crack at the base of the shank (which is still solidly attached); the face shows minor evidence of wear or use with a nice patina.
The cuff or kepi (15 mm) size button with the depressed-mark ". SCOVILLS & Co . / EXTRA" backmark is specifically listed as Albert's GI94A3 and as Tice's GEN215A26.  On page 31, Tice lists this backmark and dates it to the 1840s.  However, under CT205 (pg. 256) he notes that Scovill apparently used surplus backs of this type until around 1860.
This small-size example is in poor condition with a bent shank, a push on the front in the vicinity of the eagle's tail, and significant evidence of wear or use including scratching or damage on the left side of the face.
