DayStar Digital Charger DSP Photoshop Accelerator NuBus Card Macintosh SDayStar Digital Charger (aka Storm Technologies PicturePress) DSP Photoshop Graphics Accelerator Card for Macintosh NuBus compatible computers. This card provides Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Premiere, and Fractal Design Painter acceleration and fast image compression, intended basically to speed up image processing in publishing, and to save storage space (important back in the days of 230mb hard drives.) It can accelerate quite a number of Photoshop functions. It also has a pretty sophisticated JPEG compression which enabled different areas of the image to be compressed at different ratios - ie important image areas could be kept at a higher quality. The Charger card has two AT&T digital signal processors on it and can process up to 64 million instructions per second (MIPS). A stock Mac II only processes about 2 MIPS. System Requirements System 6.0.7 and or higher. 32-bit Color QuickDraw 68020 or better 2 MB RAM 63.5MB free disk space.
