    Description

A scarce excavated example of a Cape Fear Academy of North Carolina button.   Albert# SU-50.  Albert believed this to be a Confederate button as do many diehard collectors.  I believe it has been conclusively shown to be post Civil War but only by a couple of years.  Nonetheless a scarce southern school button.   Backmark reads
" HORSTMANN  BROS  &  ALLIEN  N.Y.  ".   A substantial amount of gilding remains on this excavated button.  There is a push in the face buy shank is staraight as an arrow.   Button measures about 24mm.  See photos for condition details.
All buttons are guaranteed to be original and of the period indicated in the description. Nearly all buttons being auctioned on Ebay will have a starting bid of .99, with no reserve ever, regardless of the button's value.  We will also list several wonderful buttons for sale, at fixed prices, in our eBay store.
