    Description

    An excellent example of a 2 piece post Civil War button of the
    United States Life Saving Service
    .  Albert# FD-18-TY.    Backmark reads " SCOVILL MF'G CO.  WATERBURY  ".   The U.S.L.S.S. was formed in 1848 and lasted to 1915 when it was merged with the Revenue Cutter Service to establish the newly formed Coast Guard. This button dates around 1880 to 1910.  Nearly all gilded finish remaining.  Button measures 22.22mm.  See photos for condition details.
