Description
A very rare example of an non-excavated 1 piece United States Ordnance Officer's button of the War of 1812 period to about 1820. Albert# OC-1-B. This example has a backmark that reads " LEWIS & TOMES . EXTRA RICH . ". Recent research indicates that these rare early Ordnance buttons may also have been worn by artillery officers. Button measures 22.45mm. Button has most of the original gilded finish intact.See photos for condition details.
