This coat is a reproduction of a Confederate 7 button coat made by C.&D.Jarnagin in or around 1977-78. It is what The Jarnagins called "dark butternut". To me it's a coffee colored brown. It is unlined wool, with a stand up collar. It is about a 38 Regular size... 38 Regular. Wow. That was 45 years and a hundred pounds ago for this old toady. It has 1 hip pocket. Around 1979 I got involved with a group in reenacting 1880s "cowboy" and funds were limited. So I took the cast white metal "I" buttons off this jacket and replaced them with plain black hard rubber (okay, plastic) buttons and forthwith, this became my 1880s civilian garb for the next few years. Sorry to say those metal buttons are lost to the ages. Dixie Gun Works or one of those lot can provide new Confederate buttons, I'm sure. It shows show age but no abuse. No holes, tears, rips, etc. It needs a new size 38 R wearer. (38R, sigh) If you have any questions whatsoever regarding this memorable old coat, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking...
