Instructions:
To apply, clean the surface before treatment as sodium silicate will not adhere to oil or grease. Use a mix ratio of four-parts water to one-part sodium silicate. Using a mop, apply a coat to the surface and allow to thoroughly dry. Then apply two more coats for best coverage.To use as an adhesive: Sodium silicate is an excellent adhesive to seal cardboard cartons and applying labels. Use full strength, but it may also be diluted partially with water.For general cleaning: Sodium silicate alkaline properties makes it an excellent cleaner and disinfectant. Simply mix one cup with two gallons of water.For food preservation: One of the original uses for sodium silicate was in food preservation helping to keep eggs fresh for up to two years. To achieve this, use a mix ratio of 9-parts water to one-part sodium silicate. Place unwashed eggs in a container and cover the eggs with the sodium silicate solution to about 1-2 inches above eggs. Cover and store in a cool place.
